Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)

Derived from iron ore, iron oxides are the most important mineral pigments in natural decorative cosmetics. They occur in various shades, from yellow to red-brown to black. Three varieties of iron oxides, European Color Index numbers: 77491, 77492, and 77499, are used in Dr.Hauschka products.

Kalanchoe Daigremontiana Leaf Extract

Kalanchoe is a succulent plant with astringent and skin soothing properties. Large volumes of water are stored in the leaves and stem of this plant, while its waxy coating prevents the liquid from evaporating. It has a revitalizing and protective quality that softens, soothes and hydrates the skin.

Kali Carbonicum [from beech wood ash] (B) 9x

Kali Carbonicum, or potassium carbonate, has a strong relationship to fluid management and the chemical processes of the liver. Derived from beech wood ash and homeopathically potentized, potassium carbonate works to help build up substances and tissues on a cellular level, bolstering the functions of the liver and helping the body overcome imbalances and inflammation in the head and bronchial regions.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is a component of the acid-mantle, the protective moisture-regulating system of the human skin. It is also found in fruit and we use a naturally occurring acid obtained from the fermentation of plant substances (not a milk source). Lactic acid has moisture-regulating and pH-stabilizing properties.

Lanolin

Sheep protect themselves and their wool with the aid of natural wool fat, also known as lanolin or wool wax. Lanolin has moisture-preserving, replenishing and emulsifying properties. It is a natural substance very close in composition to our own sebum (oil). Though animal derived, it is humanely obtained.

Leptospermun Scoparium Branch/Leaf Oil

Manuka oil is the pungent-smelling essential oil distilled from the leaves of the manuka tree (bush). Manuca trees are native to New Zealand and belong to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). Manuka oil has been valued by the Maoris for centuries and is used for the care of blemished skin. Its benefits are finding increasing recognition in Europe, too. Often called “tea tree” it is not botanically related to tea tree oil (Australian Melaleuca species), though has similar properties.

A root extract of European stoneseed or gromwell, a plant common in Chinese medicine used for its soothing and skin-nurturing properties. It protects the skin and has soothing action.

Loess

Pure natural loess is a very fine mineral clay which is also known as ”Heilerde”. It is produced from rocks carried by glaciers in the ice age. Friction, crushing and weathering transformed this rock into fine particles in clay deposits. They are dried, ground and sieved. The deep-cleansing, clarifying action of this special clay gently clears blackheads and softens callus.

A mixture of magnesium salts and plant fatty acids, mainly stearic and palmitic acid derived from plant oils. Often used for the production of tablets, magnesium stearate is used in Dr.Hauschka pressed powders as a binder. It provides smooth, even coverage and adhesive qualities for pressed powders.
