Horsetail is a silica rich plant and one of the earth’s most ancient species. In homeopathic proportions it helps support healthy function of kidneys and bladder. Related to ferns and club mosses, horsetail is often used in traditional medicine as a gentle diuretic to increase flow of urine.

Eugenol

A naturally occurring essential oil compound that is part of the pure essential oil blend that makes up the scent of a formulation. Eugenol is naturally occurring in pure essential oils such as clove, basil and cinnamon. This compound should not be confused with methyl eugenol which has been recognized as a carcinogen by the state of California.

Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax

Candelilla wax is obtained from a shrub-like member of the spurge family, Euphorbia, native to Mexico. A protective layer of the wax covers the plant. In the same way as it protects the plant, this wax protects the skin against moisture loss and makes it soft and supple. Candelilla is a relatively 'hard' wax, which can firm up other waxes and improve the consistency and texture of lipsticks and creams.

Farnesol

A naturally occurring essential oil compound that is part of the pure essential oil blend that makes up the scent of formulations. Farnesol is a natural component of pure essential oils such as rose, neroli, jasmine and ylang-ylang. It is one of the sesquiterpenol alcohols, a group of essential oil compounds researched for calming, soothing properties. Farnesol has been used to normalize sebum secretion, smooth wrinkles and promote skin tone and elasticity.

Fermented Grain Extract

Sourdough bread made of freshly milled oats, wheat and rye is subjected to a second fermentation process, in which naturally occurring lactic acid probiotics transform the bread into a highly nutritive substance. The liquid portion that results is called Brottrunk which, literally means “bread drink”–a traditional European health drink. The remaining solid portion, rich in proteins, calcium, iron, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, E, and co-enzyme A, is used to make fermented grain extract. It contains natural ferments that help protect the skin’s acid mantle and have humectant and soothing properties. Fermented grain extract also helps break down impurities while bringing moisture and vitality to the skin. Fermented grain extract contains gluten.

European regulations require that we list our pure essential oil scents as "Fragrance (Parfum)" however no synthetic fragrance or perfume ingredients are ever used to scent Dr.Hauschka products.
